Mark O’Connor also produced and preformed this song for the PBS series “Liberty!” Although I couldn’t find a specific date, considering it was made for the same series as “Brave Wolfe”, it should have been made in or around 1997. It tells a story as the observer of a young lady who has become heartbroken over her love Johnny going to help fight the war. This songs is another sorrowing song, as it should be because it tells a sad story. War is destructive in more ways then one. Not only are areas where there is actual fighting affected, the families that are torn apart and the people back home are also affected. And this song brings proof of that. You can almost visualize a thin, hungry girl dressed in red, crying silent tears. This song really makes me reflect that so many people had to sacrifice and give in order to have the life that they wanted. And, even today, there are those that give and give to make life better for their kids or for a needy relative or another such relation. This song teaches me of this sacrifice
